Fix for HMC Version 7 Release 3.5.0

This package includes fixes for HMC Version 7 Release 3.5.0. You can reference this package by APAR MB03317.

MH01217 can be applied to the following packages:

    * HMC V7R3.5.0 (any fix level)
    * HMC V7R3.5.0 Service Pack 1

If you apply MH01217 to HMC 7.3.5.0 SP0, then you should reapply this fix after you update to Service Pack 1.

List of fixes

This package includes the following fix:

Fixes a problem with the built-in Ethernet adapter on HMC model CR5 and CR4 servers. One or both built-in Ethernet ports may intermittently fail. A reboot of the HMC may recover the port. Affected Machine Type/Models are 7042-CR5, 7042-CR4, and 7310-CR4.

Note:

The Install Corrective Service task has been modified to allow corrective service installation by using the .iso packaging of the corrective service files that you can download IBM for the HMC. There is no requirement to burn CD-R or DVD-r media in order to use these files to install the corrective service.

    * To install the updates over the network, select the .iso file in the Select Service Package panel of the Install Corrective Service utility.
    * To use USB flash media to install updates, copy the .iso file to the flash media, and then select the file when prompted.
    * The updhmc command line command has also been modified to use the .iso file for installing corrective service updates. To use the command, follow the syntax in this example:
      updhmc -t s -h <myservername> -f </home/updates/corrrective_service.iso> -u <HMC_username> -i

In all cases, the HMC application extracts the files needed to install the corrective service.
