Service Pack 2 for HMC Version 7 Release 7.2.0

This package updates your HMC from HMC V7R7.2.0 SP0 HMC V7R7.2.0 SP1 to HMC V7R7.2.0 SP2. You can also reference this package by APAR MB03488.

Installing MH01253 requires that one of the following is already installed on your HMC:

    * MH01233, the HMC V7R7.2.0 Recovery installation with or without efixes
    * MH01234, the HMC V7R7.2.0 Update with or without efixes
    * MH01246, the HMC V7R7.2.0 Service Pack 1 image with or without efixes

This package includes the following fixes and enhancements:
General

    * Fixed a problem where the HMC Save Area can get corrupted resulting in a recovery state or an error attempting to activate some partitions.
    * Fixed a potential problem for a mksysplan operation on a POWER 5 managed server.
    * Prevented the removal of RMC connection in case of slow CEC and lpar discovery when HMC is rebooted.
    * Fixed a race condition in setting the lpar capability in HMC. The work around for his problem is rebuilding the affected CEC.
    * Fixed a problem with mksysplan failing with various errors in ViosUtils.
    * Fixed a problem where viewing reference code history may fail with error HSCL1400.
    * Fixed multiple security vulnerabilities.
    * Fixed a problem where HMC was not logging a change.

Repair and Verify

    * Fixed a problem with BPH repair procedure for FHA/FHB.
    * Minor change in IBM Power 770/780 Service panels to limit the remove/install of CEC drawer connector covers to only the drawer exchange procedure.
    * Fixed a problem where the user was getting a HTML Viewer Error when performing repair actions on POWER 5 servers using a symbolic FRU procedure.
    * Fixed a problem with the Drawer attention LEDs in IO expansion frames for model FHA /FHB.
    * Fixed a problem with repair procedure for SRC 14020081.
    * Fixed a problem with repair procedure for GX+ adapters for FHA/FHB.

Additional information
Note:

The HMC Install Corrective Service task has been modified to allow corrective service installation by using the .iso packaging of the corrective service files that you can download from IBM. There is no requirement to burn CD-R or DVD-r media in order to use these files to install the corrective service.

    * To install the updates over the network, select the .iso file in the Select Service Package panel of the Install Corrective Service utility.
    * To use USB flash media to install updates, copy the .iso file to the flash media, and then select the file when prompted.
    * The updhmc command line command has also been modified to use the .iso file for installing corrective service updates. To use the command, follow the syntax in this example:
      updhmc -t s -h <myservername> -f </home/updates/corrrective_service.iso> -u <HMC_username> -i

In all cases, the HMC application extracts the files needed to install the corrective service.
