Using the On-Line Help

Access the on-line help by selecting menu choices in Help menus and pop-up menus and by clicking Help buttons in dialogs.

How to configure the on-line help is described in Customizing the On-Line Help.

The entire documentation is also available as PDF files on the installation CD.

Navigating in the On-Line Help

The table of contents is available in the left-hand frame of the window. It is divided into seven parts:

In order to find the guide or section that you are looking for, just scroll down the frame.

Note:

The Table of contents frame is not available when you are entering the help from a dialog. Click the Contents button to enable the table of contents frame.

Searching the On-Line Help

Searching the Entire On-Line Help

  1. Select Search from the Help menu in any SDL Suite and TTCN Suite tool.
The Help Search dialog will be opened.
  2. Specify a search pattern. The pattern may contain wildcards similar to file name patterns used on UNIX:

      *

Matches zero or more characters.

"tele*c" finds "Telelogic" but also "... stateless. It therefore makes program re-entrance ..."

      ?

Matches any single character.

"tele?????" finds "Telelogic" and "telephone" but not "telecom".

      \

Matches the following character literally.

"\*" finds `*'.

  1. Optionally, you can make the search case sensitive.
  2. Click OK.
The search will start and a dialog gives you information about the progress. In this dialog, you may also abort the search.
When the search is finished, the result will be displayed. This is also done if you have aborted the search. All paragraphs containing the search pattern are included as hyper-text links, in combination with the title of the corresponding chapter.
  3. Click a link to go to the source of the text.

Printing the On-Line Help

Printing PDF Files

PDF files, identical to the printed SDL Suite and TTCN Suite documentation, are included on the installation CD in the subdirectory /pdf/.

As the files may have somewhat cryptic names, please see the README file (in the same directory) which lists all the file names and the corresponding chapter names.

To view or print the PDF files, please use the Adobe Acrobat Reader which you can obtain for free from Adobe.
