Server and storage administrators who deploy Brocade 8 Gbit/sec FC HBAs along with these advanced features will improve their overall storage network performance and scalability, while simplifying the complexity of their networks, both physical and virtual. Key feature enhancements supported for the 1.1.0.6 release include the following: · Quality of Service (QoS) - Three priority levels for end-to-end QoS which are enforced in hardware. · Target Rate Limiting (TRL) - Maximizes throughput across the entire fabric. · Fabric Based Boot LUN Discovery - Automatically configure boot parameters f rom the fabric. · N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) and HCM management integration with virtualization applications from Microsoft. 1.2 Limitations ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. For Windows Server 2003, the Brocade HBA requires Service Pack 2 plus Hotfix 932755. Obtain Hotfix 932755 from URL-http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932755/ 2. This Microsoft certified STORport miniport device driver version 1.1.0.6 does not support the Itanium (IA64) edition of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008. The latest version of Microsoft certified STORport miniport device driver that supports the Itanium (IA64) edition of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008 is version 1.1.0.1. 3. The Brocade FC HBA can not be directly attached to the DS4000/DS5000 host ports. Connectivity from the Brocade FC HBA ports and the DS4000/DS5000 host ports must be through the FC switches. 4. Windows Crashdump Configuration. On a system that is configured with Boot from SAN on a Brocade HBA, the following steps should be followed: · BIOS must be enabled on all HBA port instances that can see the boot LUN. · Same discovery mechanism (i.e., First LUN/Auto/Flash under "Boot Device Settings" in BIOS config menu or bcu CLI) should be used for all HBA port instances for which the boot LUN is exposed. · If multiple storage ports (having unique PWWNs) are configured to access the same boot LUN in the storage array and all PWWNs are zoned to a specific HBA port instance, then all such PWWNs must be listed under “Boot Device Settings” in BIOS config menu or bcu CLI. Note: If CLI or HCM GUI is used to configure a boot LUN, a reboot is required for the change to be effective. 5. For Win2k3, if multiple paths are configured to the same boot lun, and if the path on which Windows has discovered the boot lun goes down, Windows may suspend. It is recommended to use a single path to the target on which the boot lun is present. 6. For Win2k3, the Windows device manager may require a manual re-scan to show the current devices after a zone change. 7. In boot over SAN setup with Win2k3 R2 SP2 x86 and AMS 1000 Array, the system may halt during the OS installation (after the first reboot). Reboot the system and continue with the installation In addition, please refer to the Brocade Release Notes for Software Release v1.1.0.6 publication under the Documentation section of the following URL for additional limitations. http://www.brocade.com/sites/dotcom/services-support/drivers-downloads/HBA/Windows.page 1.3 Enhancements ----------------------------------------------------------------------- n/a 1.4 Prerequisites and Recommendations ----------------------------------------------------------------------- For Windows 2003, the Brocade HBA requires Service Pack 2 plus Hotfix 932755. Obtain Hotfix 932755 from URL- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932755/ 1.5 Code versions ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The version of the device driver is 1.1.0.6. The device driver installation files for various distinct editions of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Server 2008 are at the following web page: http://www.brocade.com/sites/dotcom/services-support/drivers-downloads/HBA/Windows.page Important: There is not any STORport miniport device driver packages version 1.1.0.6 for the Itanium (IA64) editions of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2008. You can use either individual device driver installation program for various editions of Windows Server 2003/Server 2008 or the Brocade HBA Integrated Software Installer for Windows operating system. This installer is a one-step installer that allows you to install all Brocade FC HBA software and drivers.
