The fault LED is not flashing

If you inserted the USB flash drive into a USB port on a node canister of the correct system and the fault LED of the node canister does not start flashing, use these instructions to determine any necessary actions.

About this task

After the USB flash drive is inserted into either of the two USB ports the fault LED (The exclamation mark represents the fault LED.) on the node canister  1  starts flashing. The fault LED continues to flash while the system is initializing. Normally during this process the fault LED flashes for approximately 3 minutes before it stops.

This figure shows the LEDs on the node canister.

If the fault LED does not start flashing as expected, use the following steps to determine any necessary action:

Procedure

  1. Ensure that the canister is still operating. Look at the system status LED (This icon represents the status LED). If the system status LED is permanently off, the node canister stopped working. Assuming the status LED was in the flashing state before you inserted the USB flash drive, follow the procedure that is described in topic Resolving problems with the node canister, then restart the initialization of the system. If this condition occurs again, contact your service representative.

If the system status LED is not lit, remove the USB flash drive from the node canister. The canister did not complete powering up and is not ready to receive the USB flash drive. Powering up the canister can take up to 10 minutes. If the status LED does not flash within 10 minutes, proceed to step 2.
