IBM Tape System Library Manager ermmCollectLogs README

ermmCollectLogs is a tool to collect information and trace log files for
debug purposes.

The ermmCollectLogs.pl script collects this information:
   - Basic system information
   - The version of the installed packages
   - All TSLM trace logs found on the host
   - The result of most ermmtool ls* commands
   - Core files if any are found

ermmCollectLogs must run under the ermm account.
Running the ermmCollectLogs.pl script typically takes 15 minutes, and
it generates a file named: /tmp/ermmCollectLogs-<date>-<time>.tar.gz

Ensure that there is enough free space in the /tmp directory.
Typically, the ermmCollectLogs tool requires about 500 MB space per
execution for an environment where the TSLM server runs continuously
for months at a time.


Note: This tool (ermmCollectLogs) uses the TSLM CLI tool (ermmtool) to
      collect information from the Media Manager. If a password is set
      on the target Media Manager for ermmtool access, edit the
      ermmCollectLogs.pl file to set the password string so that the
      ermmCollectLogs tool will execute the ermmtool command with the
      password. To set the password string, locate it near the beginning
      of the file and set it to this variable: $ermmtool_password
      Or, set a null string ("") to execute the ermmtool without the
      password option, which is the default setting for the variable.

      You can also set a default password for executing the ermmtool
      command by using the ermmtool configuration file (ermmcli.conf),
      instead. For details about the ermmtool configuration file, see 
      the TSLM User's Guide.
