APARs fixed

The following table lists APARs that are fixed in this interim fix.
APAR Symptoms Behaviour after applying the interim fix Package that contains the fix Available since
IV50758 Documentation does not provide information that the WebSphere® must be managed by a user with root privileges. Documentation is updated to contain information that the WebSphere Application Server must be started, stopped, and configured by a user with root privileges. Online Information Center Interim fix 13
IV51510 During the application of an interim fix, instructions for providing the user name and password for the DB2® instance owner are confusing and suggest that the DB2 administrator credentials are required. In fact, credentials of the user that is provided in the square brackets are required. Instructions clearly indicate whose credentials are required. Server Interim fix 13
IV56350 Software scans do not start according to the schedule but on a later time. The problem occurs because the time when the next month starts is calculated differently on the server and on agents. After applying the interim fix, software scans are started according to the schedule. Server Interim fix 13
IV58432 After the installation of interim fix 12, aggregation fails and the following message is displayed.
CODBL0004W Essential periodic calculations
did not occur when expected
The problem occurs when you import a new software catalog in which the component-product relationship for a software item that is detected in your infrastructure is changed form free to charged or the other way round. After applying the interim fix, aggregation finishes successfully. Server Interim fix 13

APAR Symptoms Behaviour after applying the interim fix Package that contains the fix Available since
IV45918 Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed installer hangs on the DB2 check step. Due to changes in DB2, the modification level of the product identifier can contain characters from A to Z while the SQL driver expects numeric values only. Documentation is updated to contain information about versions of DB2 that do not cause the problem. Online Information Center Interim fix 12
IV47604 Import of the stand-alone scan results fails and the following message is written in the logs.
The unknown software scans result is being uploaded
by the agent: ######.
The problem is caused by duplicated entries for software scan results.
Duplicated entries are handled properly and the import of stand-alone scan results succeeds. Server Interim fix 12
IV47646 The software catalog is successfully imported but the agent catalog packages are not generated. The displayed catalog version is Obsolete. The problem occurs when the catalog contains a large number of custom signatures. Agent catalog packages are generated even if the catalog contains a large number of custom signatures. Proper version of the catalog is displayed on the panel. Server Interim fix 12
IV51678 When a software item pricing is changed from charged to free, and the inventory is recalculated, problems with signing reports occur. Reports can be signed after a software item pricing is changed from charged to free. Server Interim fix 12
IV45694 On Solaris x86 computers with HyperThreading, the number of cores on the partition exceeds the number of cores of the physical server. Although the difference does not affect any calculations, it can be seen on the Processors and Agent Details panel. The number of partition and physical cores is the same. Server Interim fix 11
IV44265 On the Integrated Solutions Console, agent information is displayed in IPv6 format instead of IPv4 format. It causes that host names for different IP addresses are spelled with different letter cases. The information is displayed in the IPv4 format. Server Interim fix 11
IV44194 Inactive agents are not deleted after the period that is set in the maxAgentInactivityToDelete parameter is exceeded. Inactive agents are deleted after the specified period. Server Interim fix 11
IV44192 Documentation is inconsistent with reference to the agent default installation path on Windows. Agent default installation path is correctly documented as %WINDIR%\ilmt. Online Information Center Interim fix 11
IV20567 Upgrade from Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed version 7.2.2 fails during database migration. The following error is written in the log:
SQL0788N The same row of target table "ADM.AGT_VM_REL"
was identified more than once for an update, delete
or insert operation of the MERGE statement.
SQLSTATE=21506
The procedure for solving the problem is now provided in the documentation. Online Information Center Interim fix 11
IV42983 For some duplicate software instances, the date when the software was installed is later than the date when it was uninstalled or no longer discovered by the agent. Such invalid records cause discrepancies between the software that is displayed on the Manage Software Inventory panel and the software that is displayed on the Agent Details and Software Components panels. Software information is consistent across panels. Server Interim fix 11
IV42828 During the import of part numbers only license part numbers are imported. However, it might happen that the order history does not contain initial license purchases but only subsequent subscription or support part numbers. It is possible to use these part numbers for automated bundling. Documentation is updated to provide information how to prepare a file part number that also contains subscription and support part numbers. Online Information Center Interim fix 11
IV39964 PVU rating is incorrect if some of the sockets are not populated. An enhanced algorithm matches all configurations that have the number of sockets equal to or lower than the number of sockets that is defined in the PVU table. If an exact match is not possible, the smallest PVU row that has a greater number of sockets than the number of discovered sockets is matched to limit the risk of overcharging when multiple records are found. For example: three sockets are discovered. Their models, types, and vendors are properly matched in the PVU table, but there is no match for the number of sockets. However, the following three entries are found in the PVU table.
 1. PVU entry 2S, 70 PVU
 2. PVU entry 4S, 100 PVU
 3. PVU entry 8S, 120 PVU
The algorithm looks for the first entry with the number of sockets greater then the number of discovered sockets. Thus, it selects the second row with four sockets and 100 PVUs.

The algorithm is also supported on VM managers as it gathers all necessary data.

Server Interim fix 11
IV39751 Interim fix installer fails with a request for tlmsrv credentials even though the update.bat file is run from an account that has administrative privileges. Credentials of the tlmsrv user are not required to install the interim fix. Server Interim fix 11
IV38475 During the self-update of agents, agent custom location is ignored and the custom certificate as well as the settings of the tlmagent.ini table are lost. The agents are updated to the custom location. The custom certificate and settings of the tlmagent.ini table are preserved. Self-update Interim fix 10
IV37952 Incorrect measures are uploaded to the ADM.MEASURE table by agents with version lower than 7.2.2. Correct measures are uploaded to the ADM.MEASURE table. Server Interim fix 10
IV37691 Incorrect data that comes from the agents causes that a higher count is returned for LPAR cores than for physical cores. Information about the number of LPAR cores and physical cores is consistent. Server Interim fix 10
IV37389 If the System Resource Controller is not working, installation of an agent on AIX® fails. Agent is installed on AIX regardless of whether the System Resource Controller is working or not. Agent Interim fix 10
IV36123 If agent threads are started in a wrong order, agents are not able to properly handle the SIGPIPE signal. It causes that the process ends and the core is dumped. The order in which agent threads are started does not impact handling of the SIGPIPE signal. Agent Interim fix 10
IV32579 Documentation does not clearly state that setting cpu_threshold parameter causes that the execution of a scan on the agent side lengthens. Documentation is updated with the missing information. Online Information Center Interim fix 9
IV33537 When an agent is installed on a device that has a NIC card with at least two IP addresses, the agent might first list an address that is not the IP address that is listed in the Systems without Agents table. In such a situation the agent is not removed from the list of systems without agents. The agent is removed from the list of systems without agents regardless of which IP address of the device is listed first. Server Interim fix 9
IV33963 Japanese version of the Information Center incorrectly lists Windows 2000 as a platform supported by the agents. Extraneous information is removed from the documentation. Online Information Center Interim fix 9
IV35808 Duplicated entries in the ADM.LINK table cause that Inventory Builder fails. Duplicated entries in the ADM.LINK table are removed and Inventory Builder works properly. Server Interim fix 9
IV36365 Full hardware scans do not work on virtual machines even if the scans are scheduled. Hardware scans work on virtual machines. Server Interim fix 9
IV23626 An unsupported upgrade scenario was detected for an agent that is newer than version 7.2.2.0 and was installed with the -R/var/itlm option defined. Manual upgrade of an agent that is installed on AIX with the -R option defined is not supported. The only supported upgrading scenario for such an agent is self-update. Self-update Interim fix 8
IV15540 VM manager incorrectly defines virtualization topologies for guests that have the BIOSSerialNumber attribute empty. Virtualization topologies are properly defined. Server Interim fix 8
IV20562 The upload function might allow for uploading scripts with malicious content without any restrictions. If such a file is uploaded, it is possible for the malicious code to be executed. The upload function does not allow for uploading scripts with malicious content. Server Interim fix 8
IV31063 Installation of Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed agents by using Tivoli® Configuration Manager leaves the yes process command running even after the agent is installed successfully and the process is ended manually after the installation. The installation finishes properly. Agent Interim fix 8
IV30409 If an invalid URL is defined or the VMware machine is incorrectly configured, the Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed server hangs when attempting to connect to the machine, even though the timeout period is correctly configured. Such attempts of connection block the timer on which the VMware Connection task is running (Timer3). If the connection takes twice the amount of time that was defined as the timeout period, the connection thread is broken and the status of the VM manager is changed to Hard timeout - suspended. This status indicates that no further attempts of connecting to the particular VM manager are made until its status is manually changed to Pending. Invalid URL of a VMware machine does not block other VMware machines from being processed correctly. Agent Interim fix 8
IV29984 During the installation of the interim fix, public access is granted to the ADM.MIG_INSTR and ADM.MIG_SCRIPT tables. Public access is not granted to these tables. Server Interim fix 7
IV24904 In the Software Catalog canonical form, the signature definition for a particular product is based on two files whose size is set to 0 bytes. Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed scanner should match the files by their names only, as it is in the case of single-file signatures. However, for the multi-file signatures, the agent retrieves the information about file size equal 0 and tries to match both the name and size of the particular file. The scanner matches multi-file signatures with file size equal 0 only by file names. Server Interim fix 7
IV29154 One of the steps of interim fix installation runs a query on the database that causes the installation to fail. The interim fix installation finishes successfully. Server Interim fix 7
IV29124 Documentation lacks information that the version of the agent cannot be higher than the version of the server even at the interim fix level. Documentation is updated with the missing information. Online Information Center Interim fix 7
IV28621 The package ILMT-TAD4D-agent-7.2.2-1.s390 requires /lib/ld.so.1 and this requirement cannot be provided. The required library is included in the package. Agent Interim fix 7
IV28037 The Description field in the custom.signature_v view is empty for every row in the table. The field is populated for every row in the table. Server Interim fix 7
IV26845 It is not possible to install an agent on AIX by using SPB package when the custom location is used. An agent can be installed in custom location on AIX by using the SPB. Agent Interim fix 7
IV27978 Because of a defect in the agent installer, the following upgrading scenarios fail.
 • 7.2.2 FP2 > 7.5.0.1 > 7.5.0.2/3
 • 7.5.0.0 > 7.5.0.1 > 7.5.0.2/3
The following information is returned by the installer.
Current installation scenario (Downgrade) is not supported.
The two upgrading scenarios are supported. Agent Interim fix 7
IV25637 The following exception is written in the log although it does not indicate any problem.
<Exception><![CDATA[java.lang.NumberFormatExcpetion: null
The exception is not logged. Server Interim fix 6
IV26311 When an upload is rejected on the server, the server does not fill in the http response. The agent tries to parse the empty response and logs information that it could not parse the service control data. The information that is logged clearly states the reason of the problem and thus helps in further debugging. Server Interim fix 6
IV24091 When the server is overloaded with scan uploads, the number of connections to the agent port on the side of the server increases significantly.
 • The number of connections in the ESTABLISHED state is limited on WebSphere
 • The number of connections in the TIME_WAIT state is not the concern
 • The number of connections in the CLOSE_WAIT state that appear on the side of the server (for example, netstat) must be limited. In the original case, 8000 of such connections were observed.
The problem originally occurred in an environment with 26000 agents.
The number of connections in the CLOSE_WAIT is limited. Server Interim fix 6
IV26374 The lmtcli.sh script fails to start and the process ends. The lmtcli.sh script runs properly. Server Interim fix 6
IV26884 When an empty file is passed to the agtdel command, it is treated as if no file was passed and all agents with the referenced status are deleted. When an empty file is passed to the agtdel command, no agents are deleted. Server Interim fix 6
IV20797 The upgrade of the Common Inventory Technology scanner is not verified during the self-upgrade of Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed agents from version 7.2.1 to 7.2.2. The upgrade of the Common Inventory Technology scanner is verified during the self-upgrade of agents from version 7.2.1 to 7.2.2. Self-update Interim fix 5
IV22742 When a product is detected only on a shared file system and the usage is not reported, the capacity and subcapacity values are empty. The subcapacity values are populated for products that are installed on a shared file system even if usage is turned off. Server Interim fix 5
IV22830 Software that is installed on Network File Systems (NFS) is incorrectly detected when non-file signatures are used. Moreover, the software is incorrectly counted because of the missing use signatures. The software is correctly detected when non-file signatures are used and the software is correctly counted. Server Interim fix 5
IV24800 A problem occurs if a single forward slash is encountered in the path where two forward slashes (//) are expected. A single forward slash that occurs in the path is handled correctly. Server Interim fix 5
IV24985 When agent information is filtered by the host name of a single agent, numerous duplicate blank rows are returned. Attempts of deleting any of these blank rows result in all blank rows, including the valid entry, being deleted. The problem does not occur in the TLMA database on which a single entry is returned for each agent. Both agents are virtual machines. A single entry is returned for each agent. Server Interim fix 5
IV24950 Software aggregation hangs with a timeout error because of locks on the database. Software aggregation works properly. Server Interim fix 5
IV24741 Agents respond slowly to the command-line interface commands. After installing the Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed agent for AIX PPC v7.5 on an AIX server (both AIX 6.1 and AIX 7.1), the command-line interface commands take about 40 seconds to respond. The command-line interface commands take less time to respond. Agent Interim fix 5
IV20309 Some processors are not correctly matched by the x86 matcher. The problem occurs because the processor name contains the space sign, hyphen, or a national language character. Processors are correctly matched by the x86 matcher. Server Interim fix 4
IV17935 The installed version of the Common Inventory Technology scanner is not up-to-date. The latest version of the Common Inventory Technology scanner is installed. Agent Interim fix 4
IV15700 Some software scans return product names that are longer then the current length of the PACKAGE_NAME column of the ADM.NATIVE_SW table (64 characters). The excessive length of product names generates exceptions during the upload and the agent cannot upload the results of the software scan. The size of the column is increased to 255 characters to handle long product names. Server Interim fix 4
IV24201 A local zone and global zone cannot be matched properly when the serial number that is reported by eeprom/SMBIOS on a global zone differs from the hardware serial number that is reported by sysinfo(SI_HW_SERIAL) Serial number that is reported by eeprom/SMBIOS is handled correctly. Server Interim fix 4
IV20850 After upgrading to Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed 7.2.2.2, incorrect values are stored in the OS_SUB_VERS column of the tlmhw.computer table. Correct values are stored in the table. Server Interim fix 4
IV19879 The /efs/dist/ibm/tad/722fp1/exec/ folder is read-only. However, the agent requires at least one file in the agent_base_dir location to be writable. Even if the folder where the agent is installed is read-only, the agent works properly. Interim fix 3
IV15800 The License Type parameter is no longer considered in the new design of importing the software catalog that was introduced in the 7.2.2 release. However, Tivoli Asset Management for IT uses this value to create reports. The parameter is restored by adding a column in the database and ensuring that the column is correctly propagated after the catalog import. Server Interim fix 3
IV17932 Software aggregation fails in the 7.2.2 release. The problem occurs because the adm.vm records are missing from the agents that are in the incomplete status. Software aggregation succeeds. Server Interim fix 3
IV20907 The monthly scheduler for the Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed agent does not work correctly. The monthly scheduler works correctly. Server and agent Interim fix 3
IV23342 The Component panel works slowly in Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed. Performance of the panel is improved. Server Interim fix 3

21356 PVU matching algorithm for sockets An enhanced algorithm matches all configurations that have the number of sockets equal to or lower than the number of sockets that is defined in the PVU table. If an exact match is not possible, the algorithm looks for the smallest PVU row that has the number of sockets greater than the number of discovered sockets.
The algorithm looks for the first entry with the number of sockets greater than the number of discovered sockets. Thus, it selects the second row with four sockets and 100 PVUs.

The algorithm is also supported on VM managers as it gathers all necessary data.

Server Interim fix 12
21326 Server-side matching algorithm for processor brand If a few entries from the processors table have the same brand but different number of sockets, the enhanced algorithm looks for the smallest PVU row that has the number of sockets greater than the number of discovered sockets. For example: the discovered processor is Intel Xeon CPU X7560 @ 2.27 GHz. The following three entries exist in the processors table.
 1. Xeon, 2S - model X7560
 2. Xeon, 4S - model X7560
 3. Xeon, 8S - model X7560
Based on the brand and the closest number of sockets, processors are matched in the following way.
 • Processor with one or two sockets are matched with the first row.
 • Processors with three or four sockets to the second row.
 • Processors with five, six, seven, or eight to the last row.

17874 CPU limiter support for use scan and hardware scan CPU limiter support is now extended over use scan and hardware scan, in addition to the currently implemented support for software scan (provided in FP0002). Server Interim fix 8
18093 Column with the packet IP address information in the custom agent view The column with the packet IP address is added to the custom agent view. The column contains IP address of the host on which the agent is deployed. Server Interim fix 7
17124 Support for NTLMv2 Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed is able to authenticate with Hyper-V by using NTLMv2. Server Interim fix 7
16840 IP Address column added to the Agent Report The IP Address column is added on the Agents panel. It contains the IP address of a computer on which the agent is installed. The column is also introduced in the PDF and CSV reports. Server Interim fix 6
36707.3 Events framework This feature introduces the Events Framework that stores events reported by the server and the number of the events. The events are stored in the database for the number of days that is specified by the KEEP_EVENTS_DAYS parameter in the ADM.CONTROL table. Server Interim fix 6
16721 Support for resuming a failed installation of an interim fix Support is added for resuming the installation of an interim fix that failed during the database update. The script output contains additional information about what should be done in case of failure. Server Interim fix 5
15276 Separate packages for content delivered through ACFS The changes delivered trough Agile Continuous Fix Stream (ACFS) are now divided into separate packages, according to their content.
 • Server package for patching ILMT server. For example, 7.5.0-TIV-ILMT-TAD4D-IF0002-server-multi.zip
 • Self-update package for patching self-update functionality. For example, 7.5.0-TIV-ILMT-TAD4D-IF0002-self_update-multi.zip
 • spb package with agents

36671 Signature reported along with component in the instances table Signature location is displayed so that it is easy to locate the file that was responsible for software detection. For more details, see: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21600006 Server Interim fix 3
36677 Recovery from overload - Semaphore on uploads A semaphore is introduced into the communication between agents and the server. The semaphore limits the concurrency of software and hardware uploads and thus reduces the risk of running into lock timeout on the database. For more details, see: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21600015 Server Interim fix 3
36707 Cache values for Download-Parameters and collect summarical time that is spent on handling various requests This feature introduces cache values for the Download Parameters process and collection of the total time that is spent on handling various requests. For more details, see: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21600019 Server Interim fix 3
36707.2 Performance boost for VM manager connector task (UUIDs cached and 'update topology' logic changed) This feature introduces performance boost for the VM manager connector task. The UUIDs are cached and changes are introduced in the logic of the Update Topology process. For more details, see: http://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21600019 Server Interim fix 3
15717 Switching off Software Use data in the PVU calculation You can use this feature to have all calculations (PVU and STG) performed for all products that are discovered on the shared file systems regardless of whether the software usage of such product instances was detected. Compatibility with earlier version

Before you install the interim fix, make sure that fix pack 7.2.2-TIV-TAD4D-FP0002 is installed with Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed.

Installing the interim fix

For information about how to install the fix by using patch installer, see: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/tamit/v7r2m2/topic/com.ibm.license.mgmt.probdet.doc/c_acfs.html.
Important:

To install the fix, you must be logged in as Administrator (on Windows) or root (on UNIX) to the computer where Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed is installed.

Due to file paths length, not all file archivers can properly extract the interim fix installer. To extract the files, use a dedicated application that handles long file paths.

If you want to update agents with a particular interim fix, ensure that the Tivoli Asset Discovery for Distributed server is also updated with the same version of the interim fix. The version of agents that connect to a particular server must be the same as or lower than the version of the server. The version of agents cannot be higher than the version of the server.
