IBM Maximo Asset Management, Version 7.6.0.1

Readme file for IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.1 fix pack

This fix pack updates the IBM® Maximo® Asset Management 7.6 product.

Prerequisites and supported products

To install this fix pack, you must already have IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6 installed.

Supported upgrade paths

If you have IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6 installed, you can install the 7.6.0.1 fix pack.

What's new in IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.1

New features and capabilities in the IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.1 fix pack help your organization be more efficient through improvements to Maximo Integration Framework, to the process for issuing inventory usage documents, and to upgrading and reporting.

What's new with the Maximo Integration Framework

The 7.6.0.1 fix pack helps you associate objects with data from external systems.

Starting with the 7.6.0.1 fix pack, you can share data between IBM Maximo Asset Management and external systems based on federated Maximo business object (MBO)s. With federated MBO integration, you can associate IBM Maximo Asset Management objects with data from an external system and maintain the data outside of the IBM Maximo Asset Management database. The external data must be exposed through a JSON REST API in order for the data to be available as an MBO. For more information, see this technote (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21902325).

What's new in upgrading

The 7.6.0.1 fix pack helps you minimize downtime when you upgrade IBM Maximo Asset Management.

When you install a fix pack or upgrade your current deployment, the configuration portion of the process includes tasks to update the database and build and deploy application EAR files. The application server must be stopped during this phase of the deployment, which can lead to extended downtime of your production environment. Starting with the 7.6.0.1 fix pack, you can minimize downtime by using new programs to manually perform these configuration tasks. Tasks that are performed by the updatedb program, preparation of product class files and database updates, were split into two separate commands: updatedblitepreprocessor and updatedblite. When you prepare product class files by using these two commands, you no longer need to stop the IBM Maximo Asset Management application server. For more information, see this technote (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21902458).

What's new in reporting

New reports were added to IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.0.1 to provide more insight on your inventory.

Three new reports were added in 7.6.0.1 to display each item's cost type (Average, Standard, LIFO, FIFO) and calculate its ABC, EOQ, or ROP by evaluating the transaction tables. Each report includes date parameters so you can query specific time periods for the item values. Additionally, each report contains a separate, secured report that updates the database with the new calculated values. The three new reports are Inventory ABC Transaction Date Analysis, Inventory EOQ Transaction Date Analysis, and Inventory ROP Transaction Date Analysis.

For additional information, access the Maximo 7.6 Report booklet found here (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21693595).

What's new with inventory usage documents

Updates in the 7.6.0.1 fix pack make it faster and easier to do partial issues of inventory usage documents.

In Maximo versions 7.5.0.0 to 7.5.0.7, the Inventory Usage application forces a complete issue of all items on the usage document. If you wanted to do a partial issue of items on the usage document, you had to manually create a new usage doc with the remaining items. These steps are time consuming and slow down the business process for issuing items and fully completing reservations. In 7.6.0.1, you can now issue a partial quantity of an inventory usage document and create another usage document for the remaining quantity.

Fixes

The following APAR fixes were resolved in the IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6 fix pack.

Security issues

Security issues are resolved in each fix pack to ensure that IBM Maximo Asset Management is secure.

CVSS

IBM does not intend to provide vulnerability details that might enable someone to craft an exploit. IBM uses the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) as a standard for communicating the impact of security vulnerabilities in IBM products and solutions. CVSS is an industry open standard for assessing the severity or impact of computer system security vulnerabilities. This standard attempts to establish a numeric measure that represents how much concern or attention the vulnerability warrants. The resulting CVSS score is based on an assessment of a series of metrics. The CVSS Base Score represents the intrinsic and fundamental characteristics of the vulnerability that are typically constant over time and across user environments.

For more information, see http://www-03.ibm.com/security/secure-engineering/bulletins.html

The following security issues were resolved in 7.6.0.1.

1. The MAXATTRIBUTE.ISPOSITIVE value is changed 0 - 1 (false to true)

Database IV69910 164781 A new script, V7601_31.dbc, was added. There were updates to the MULTIASSETLOCCI and the MULTIASSETLOCCIPR tables; the following attributes are now non-localizable: MULTIASSETLOCCI.RECORDCLASS, MULTIASSETLOCCI.STARTOFFSETUNITID, MULTIASSETLOCCI.STARTMEASUREUNITID, MULTIASSETLOCCI.ENDOFFSETUNITID, MULTIASSETLOCCI.ENDMEASUREUNITID, MULTIASSETLOCCI.BASEMEASUREUNITID, MULTIASSETLOCCIPR.STARTOFFSETUNITID, MULTIASSETLOCCIPR.STARTMEASUREUNITID, MULTIASSETLOCCIPR.ENDOFFSETUNITID, MULTIASSETLOCCIPR.ENDMEASUREUNITID, and MULTIASSETLOCCIPR.BASEMEASUREUNITID. There were also two links added to the maxdynamicdomlink table to address an issue with a MULTIASSETLOCCI.RECORDCLASS attribute that had a combination of the WOCLASS and TKCLASS domains.
Database IV70747 166144 In the V7601_34.dbc script, the DMREPORT object structure was fixed. Four records in the maxintobjdetail table now have the correct hierarchy path:

Maxintobjdetail set hierarchypath = 'REPORT/REPORTLABEL' where intobjectname = 'DMREPORT' and objectname = 'REPORTLABEL'

Maxintobjdetail set hierarchypath = 'REPORT/REPORTAUTH' where intobjectname = 'DMREPORT' and objectname = 'REPORTAUTH'

Maxintobjdetail set hierarchypath = 'REPORT/REPORTAPPAUTH' where intobjectname = 'DMREPORT' and objectname = 'REPORTAPPAUTH'

Maxintobjdetail set hierarchypath = 'REPORT/REPORTSCHED' where intobjectname = 'DMREPORT' and objectname = 'REPORTSCHED'

Database IV70853 166544 The MAXINTOBJAPP.PRIMARYOBJECT object structure is now nonrestricted for the DMMAXINTOBJECT object.
Functionality IV65156 149249 The format of grouped by labor was changed. This change coincides with the fix to calculate hours and cost across all pay codes and crafts for a specific labor.
Functionality IV68202 158357 Request page generation now behaves differently in multi-language environments. In the Report Administration application, the Generate Request Pages button on the List tab and the Generate Request Page button on the Report tab now generate the presentation XML for all reports if the system is configured to use more than one language.
Functionality IV71258 167536 Under APAR IV41872, report execution behavior was changed to open a separate viewer window for each report. This behavior is incorrect because only 1 active report is allowed per session. The original behavior of 1 concurrent report viewer window is now restored.
Functionality IV72023 170163 Meter-based preventive maintenance records that do not use the target start date uses the last reading date as the basis for determining the next due date if the last reading date is more recent than last work order completion date. This adjustment changes the way that this function was originally designed, however, the original design was not correct.
Functionality,
User Interface
IV65532 150749 In the Assets application, asset status records are now written to the PLUSCASSETSTATUS table and the View Asset Status History dialog is accessible for both calibration and non-calibration assets. Previously, this function was only supported for calibration assets.
Functionality,
User Interface
IV66792 154954 After the fix is applied, the option to create an ad hoc report outside of an application is no longer available. Furthermore, the Create Report button only appears on the Reports dialog box when you view reports for the current application.
Property IV66941 154943 A new property, mxe.system.IntegerQBEsearchCommaAsOr, was added.
Property IV68097 158058 A new property, mxe.db.defaultLexer, was added to set the default Oracle lexer for text searches. This property is set to global_lexer by default.
