4. Known issues, limitations, and workarounds

4.1 There will be no updates of the online documentation for this fix pack release. The existing 8.0.1.3 documentation should be referenced for guidance in regards installing, configuring or administrating this latest version.

5. Before installing the appliance firmware update

6. Installing the appliance firmware update

IMPORTANT: Please note that this appliance firmware update should not be considered as a fix pack. When applying this update to the appliance, the fix pack option should not be used. Please ensure that all upgrade instructions provided are reviewed before applying this to your appliances.

Scenario

Complete this task

If you are installing the appliance for the first time

Download the iso image and install. 

If you are upgrading the appliance to version 8.0.1.5

Download the .pkg file and complete any of the following options.

Upgrade by using the online update server. 


Procedure

Note: If you download from Fix Central or IBM Security Systems site, skip step 1 in the Virtual Appliance Quick Start Guide.

7. After installing the appliance firmware update

Check that the correct version is installed. From the local management interface, select Manage System Settings > Updates and Licensing > Overview.

You can also navigate to Manage System Settings > Updates and Licensing > Firmware Settings. Examine the details that are associated with the Active partition and ensure that the firmware version is correct.

No additional steps are required.

8. Uninstalling the appliance firmware update

You cannot uninstall the firmware update, but you can boot the appliance to the previous version of the firmware. For more information, see Managing firmware settings .

Procedure

  1. In the local management interface, select Manage System Settings > Updates and Licensing > Firmware Settings.
  2. Select the partition and click Set Active.
  3. Click Yes to accept the warning about swapping the partition. This automatically reboots the machine with the previous firmware partition.
