An Interim Fix is a group of critical issues that have been repaired since the product fix pack or patch was released.
The Interim Fix is cumulative and may contain other fixes in addition to the issues that affect your site.
The Interim Fix must be applied in full in order to be supportable. Customers should validate this Interim Fix by installing it in a test environment before rolling it out to a production environment.
Interim Fixes, by their very nature, go through a limited quality assurance cycle and may not be included in the latest available program patch.

Pre-Installation requirements
Before installation begins, ensure that no database configuration changes are pending.
Shut down the Maximo application server and back up the database.
Copy the Maximo directory and save it to another location.
Backup the Installation Manager's data location:
- Windows: C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager
- Unix: /var/ibm/InstallationManager
For Microsoft Windows 2012 users, you must log into Maximo as an administrator. If you attempt to upgrade when you are not logged in as an administrator, the installation fails. Copy the interim fix file to the location where Maximo is installed. This interim fix is provided as an Installation Manager (IM) compressed file. When the interim fix is installed by using the Installation Manager program, the existing Maximo directory structure is overwritten.
The interim fix also contains database scripts that modify the existing database.
If you want to reverse the changes, you must restore the earlier version of the Maximo directory, database and Installation Manager directory that you saved to another location.
