Installing IBM Cloud Private Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment

Upgrading IBM Cloud Private Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment

You can download and install or upgrade IBM Cloud Private Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment.

Upgrade requires about 1 hour, not counting the time to download the files and load the images into the IBM Cloud Private Docker registry.

Download fix pack and load the Helm chart into IBM Cloud Private

  1. Download the full installation file from Fix Central (8 GB).
  2. If Docker CE isn't already installed, install Docker CE. See https://docs.docker.com/engine/installation/.
  3. Create an installation directory.
  4. Move the downloaded file into the installation directory.
  5. Unpack the IBM Certified Container by using the following command:

    tar xvf < downloaded file > .tgz
    
  6. Load the IBM Certified Container into IBM Cloud Private by using the following command:

    scripts/load_cloudpak.sh -n < namespace >  -c < ICP hostname > -u < ICP User > -a ./ibm-cfee-installer-archive-3.2.1-*.tgz
    

Note: Default examples: -n default, -c mycluster.icp, -u admin

Upgrade the Helm release

  1. From the IBM Cloud Private management console, go to Workloads > Helm Releases.
  2. Locate and select the Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment chart.
  3. Select the new version.
  4. Select Upgrade.
  5. Wait for the pod to show 1/1 running.

Upgrade Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment by using the Cloud Foundry deployment tool

  1. From the IBM Cloud Private management console, go to Workloads > Helm Releases.
  2. Locate and select the Cloud Foundry Enterprise Environment chart.
  3. Select Launch > deployment-tool.
  4. In the Cloud Foundry deployment tool, select the States page.
  5. Change all the states that you are running during upgrade to Ready. Typically all states should be changed to Ready.
  6. Select the Configuration page and click the pencil icon to edit the configuration.
  7. Select the Cloud Foundry tab.
  8. Change the Installer action to Upgrade.
  9. Select Save and exit. The configuration is verified.
  10. Select Start deployment. The States page shows the upgrade status and log files. When all states change to the Succeeded state, the fix pack upgrade is complete.
