Description

This readme provides information about the patch available in this interim fix.

This fix can be installed on IBM® WebSphere® RFID Premises Server 1.1.0.1 to correct an issue where tag metadata displays in the wrong administrative console page.

Supported hardware and software

This interim fix for WebSphere RFID Premises Server supports the hardware and software versions listed on the system requirements page.

Installing the fix

Use these instructions to install the interim fix on an existing installation of WebSphere RFID Premises Server 1.1.0.1.

  1. Unzip the APAR ZIP file, IC50332.zip, included in this fix to a local directory, such as C:\IC50332.
  2. Stop WebSphere Application Server and stop the WebSphere RFID Premises Server Services Management Framework (SMF).
  3. Run the resetsmf.bat file from the RFID_HOME\RFID\edgecontroller\premises\smf directory.
  4. Rename the PremisesBridge+1_1_0.jar file in the RFID_HOME\RFID\edgecontroller\premises\smf\bundlefiles directory to PremisesBridge+1_1_0.jar.bak.
  5. Copy the PremisesBridge+1_1_0.jar file from the APAR ZIP file to the RFID_HOME\RFID\edgecontroller\premises\smf\bundlefiles directory.
  6. Optional step: Add the following text to the premises.properties file located in RFID_HOME\RFID\premises\properties directory.

  8. Start WebSphere Application Server.
  9. Stop the "IBM Premises Event Server" application by navigating to Applications -> Enterprise Applications in the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console, selecting the checkbox beside "IBM Premises Event Server", and clicking Stop.
  10. Stop the "IBM Premises Admin Console" application by selecting the checkbox beside "IBM Premises Admin Console" and clicking Stop.
  11. Uninstall the "IBM Premises Event Server" application by selecting the checkbox beside "IBM Premises Event Server" and clicking Uninstall.
  12. Uninstall the "IBM Premises Admin Console" application by selecting the checkbox beside "IBM Premises Admin Console" and clicking Uninstall.
  13. Save your configuration changes.
  14. Install the new "IBM Premises Event Server" application from the IBMPremisesEventServer.ear. To install the application, navigate to Applications -> Install New Application in the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console. Then browse to the local path of the IBMPremisesEventServer.ear file from the APAR ZIP file. Choose the appropriate installation options for your configuration. Be sure to select the check box for Deploy EJBs and select the correct back-end folder for the database you are using (either DB2 or Oracle).
  15. Install the new "IBM Premises Admin Console" application from the IBMPremisesAdminConsole.ear. To install the application, navigate to Applications -> Install New Application in the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console. Then browse to the local path of the IBMPremisesAdminConsole.ear file from the APAR ZIP file. Choose the appropriate installation options for your configuration. Be sure to select the check box for Deploy EJBs and select the correct back-end folder for the database you are using (either DB2 or Oracle).
  16. Navigate to Applications -> Enterprise Applications and click IBM Premises Admin Console.
  17. On the bottom of the Configuration tab, in the Additional Properties table, click the Libraries link.
  18. On the Library References page, click Add and select Struts 1.1 as the new library name. Then click OK.
  19. Save your configuration changes.
  20. Start the "IBM Premises Event Server" application by navigating to Applications -> Enterprise Applications in the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console, selecting the checkbox beside "IBM Premises Event Server", and clicking Start.
  21. Start the "IBM Premises Admin Console" application by navigating to Applications -> Enterprise Applications in the WebSphere Application Server Administrative Console, selecting the checkbox beside "IBM Premises Admin Console", and clicking Start.
  22. Restart WebSphere Application Server.
  23. Restart SMF.
  24. Verify that the issues detailed in the Update History section are fixed.
