Before you can view any information, you must establish
a connection between CICS® CM plug-in and
your CICS systems by providing
details about the system connection, its location, and its authentication
requirements.
Before you begin
Make sure that you have all your system connection details,
that you have the correct level of authorization to connect to your
system, and that you are connected to your company network.
If
your system administrator has preconfigured CICS CM plug-in,
you can view the details in the Connections Preferences view.
If CICS CM plug-in has
not been configured, or you want to add an additional connection,
perform these steps:
- Click Window > Preferences from the workbench menu
bar, and click Connections. The Connections Preferences view
is displayed. If it has been preconfigured, the connection details
are displayed as in the example below. If not, the fields are blank.
- Click New.
- Fill in the fields with the details provided by your system
administrator. The following table provides a description of the fields:
Option |
Description |
Type |
The type of the system. Select Configuration Manager to
connect to the CICS Configuration
Manager. |
Name |
The local name used to identify this connection. The name
can be anything you choose and is used only to help you distinguish
between different connections. |
Host name |
The address of the server hosting your Configuration Manager
server. |
Port number |
The port used to access the server. |
User ID |
Your authorized user ID for the system. |

you are asked to enter your password when the connection is attempted. |
CICS Connection® |
When you Click Apply the CICS Connection window is populated
with the CICSPlex® SM Connections
that are available to use with this connection. The CICS CM plug-in can use the CICSPlex SM Connection to interrogate operation
resources and the CICS CM Connection
to interrogate definition resources without your intervention. Click Apply to
save your selection. |
- Click Apply to save the configuration.
- Click Connect. You are prompted
for your password and you can save your password.
What to do next
When you click
Connect,
CICS CM plug-in tries
to connect to the system that you have configured.
If the connection
is successful, the connection name is displayed in the lower-right
corner of the workbench window next to a green icon, indicating a
successful connection.
If the connection is not successful,
the connection name is displayed in the lower-right corner of the
workbench window next to a red icon, indicating that the connection
was not successful. An error message is displayed at the top of the
Connections Preferences view, providing a reason for the failure.
Check the values in the fields, correct any errors, and click Connect to
test the corrections.
When the connection is successful, click OK or Cancel to
close the Preferences view.
