About this interim fix

This interim fix applies to IBM® WebSphere® Telecom Web Services Server (TWSS) - Base, Services and WIDPlugin Version 7.2 installation using Firststeps on all supported platforms. This interim fix is installed using IBM Installation Manager.

Installation instructions

Note: In this section:

To install TWSS Base and Service platform Interim Fix complete the following steps:

  1. Verify that the IBM Installation Manager version is at a supported level as listed in Software Compatibility section.
  2. Ensure TWSS v7.2 product is installed.
  3. Verify that the WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment and WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus versions are at supported levels as listed in Software Compatibility section.
  4. Download the TWSS Service iFix004 zip file  (7.2.0.0-WebSphere-TWSS-Services-IF004.zip) into different locations in the Deployment Manager machine and extract the .zip file.
    These .zip file contains the repository.config file along with other files and directories for each of the .zip files.
  5. In the Deployment Manager machine, launch IBM Installation Manager from IM_ROOT/eclipse/IBMIM and set the repository.config for both Base and Service by navigating to File > Preferences > Add Repository.
  6. In the IBM Installation Manager home screen, click Update.
  7. In the first panel, select the Package Group Name (WebSphere Application Server or WebSphere Application Server Enterprise Service Bus) where TWSS-Base and TWSS-Service is installed.
  8. Click Next.
    The second panel lists the Interim Fix applicable for TWSS-Base or TWSS-Service (depending on the component being installed).
  9. Click Next.
    The third panel shows the Pre-Update Summary containing information like Interim Fix name and Package Group Name where this iFix003 is installed.
  10. Click Update.
  11. Once the iFix is installed, click Finish.

Note: To install the TWSS-Service iFix004 on the Service Implementation environment, first select TWSS Bases iFix004 and then the TWSS Service iFix004 to install using the Installation Manager.

To install TWSS WIDPlugin Interim Fix in the developement enviroment, complete the following steps:

  1. Verify that the IBM Installation Manager version is at a supported level as listed in Software Compatibility section.
  2. Verify the WebSphere Integration Developer version is at the supported levels as listed in the Software Compatibility section.
  3. Download the ( 7.2.0.0-WebSphere-TWSS-WIDPlugin-IF004.zip file) into any location on the development enviroment
    These .zip file contains the repository.config file along with other files and directories for each of the .zip files.
  4. Unzip the downloaded 7.2.0.0-WebSphere-TWSS-WIDPlugin-IF004.zip file
  5. Launch the Installation Manager, select File -> Preferences
  6. Click on 'Add Repository' to specify the location of the repository.config file that is shipped along with the zip file
  7. Click Apply
  8. Click Update
  9. On the 'Update Packages' panel, select the 'Package Group Name' IBM WebSphere Integration Developer
  10. Click Next
  11. The 'Update Packages' panel listed the currently installed components
  12. Select only the 'IBM WebSphere Telecom Web Services Server - WIDPLUGIN 7.2.0.0(installed)' & Only fixes for version 7.2.0.0
  13. Click Next
  14. Click Next
  15. Update Packages panel lists the latest iFix namely., 7.2.0.0-WebSphere-TWSS-widplugin-IF004 7.2.0.0
  16. Click Update

Post Installation instructions for Interim Fix 004

Once the 7.2.0.0-WebSphere-TWSS-Services-IF004 is installed using the Installation Manager, the PX21_MM_MM7 & PX21_SMS_SMPP application EAR's will need to be manually deployed on the Service Platform environment using the WAS Administration console.

  1. Login to the WebSphere Application Server, Deployment Manager Administration console
  2. Go to Applications -> Application Types -> WebSphere enterprise applications
  3. Select the Enterprise Application, IMS Multimedia Messaging and click the 'Update' button
  4. In the Application update options, choose the 'Remote file system' and browse to the location of the newly installed PX21_MM_MM7 ear. The location is: WAS_ROOT/installableApps/TWSS-Services.
  5. Select the PX21_MM_MM7.ear and click 'OK'
  6. Click Next, choose 'Detailed - Show all installation options and parameters'
  7. Click Next
  8. Follow the Steps 1 to 20 as indicated in the 'Install New Application' screen. [If 'Oracle' is configured as the backend, then in Step 3 'Select current backend ID', ensure that ORACLE_V9_1 is selected.]
  9. Repeat the Post Installation Steps 2 to 8 for the Short Messaging Service Web Service Implementation as it was done for IMS Multimedia Messaging. The application EAR is: PX21_SMS_SMPP
  10. The SMPPConnector, resource adapter will need to be updated on all the nodes. The location of the SMPPConnector.rar: WAS_ROOT/installableApps/TWSS-Services
  11. Login to WebSphere Application Server Administration console, go to Recources -> Resource Adapters -> Resource adapters
  12. Stop the servers including the Proxy Server
  13. Select the SMPPConnector (for all the nodes listed), Click on 'Update RAR' button and click next
  14. Select the new RAR file, Click next till Step 4 and finally click 'Finish'
  15. Start all the servers and the Proxy Server
  16. Ensure the nodes are synchronized

 

Note: If Interim Fix 001 is being installed: Consider the scenario where you have installed the TWSS-Base GM build without the Firststeps feature, and you have installed iFix002 on top of this. Later, you install Firststeps using the Modify option available in IBM Installation Manager. In such a scenario, if you attempt to uninstall iFix001, IBM Installation Manager gives a "Failed to find all Installation Files" error. Hence, before uninstalling iFix002, set the repositiry.config file of TWSS-Base GM build in IBM Installation Manager at File > Preferences > Add Repository.

Note: If iFix001 is uninstalled, TWSS-Base reverts to the GM version and the FirstStepsInfo.properties file (WAS_ROOT/installableApps/TWSS-Base/firststeps) gets modified. There are two methods to revert to the original values in the properties file:
