The WebSphere Extended Deployment Compute Grid V8.0
WebSphere Extended Deployment Compute Grid provides a batch platform with a
managed batch execution environment that enables the entry, execution and
management of Java batch processing on mainframe or in distributed environments.
It provides an infrastructure for batch processing that allows sharing of
business logic with OLTP applications as well as applications written in
traditional languages. It helps lower cost by reducing risk and management
effort, provides customers an "always-on" business experience by facilitating
24x7 batch and OLTP, and delivers enterprise qualities of services required by
mission critical batch applications. Benefits of WebSphere Extended Deployment
Compute Grid include:
- Improved IT efficiency through optimal hardware and software
resource utilization due to shared infrastructure between Batch and OLTP
applications leads to reduction in capital and operation cost
- Improved business efficiency due to reduction of batch windows
providing 24 x 7 uptime for OLTP applications required by globally integrated
business
- Improved developer efficiency through reuse of assets written in
Java, COBOL, PL/I, C/C++ etc.
- Improved time to market through the use of available Java skills for
shifting of batch workloads to new languages and runtime environments,
