LOCAL FIX: PROBLEM SUMMARY USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application Server using the proxy server with caching and tracing enabled. PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: NullPointerExceptions are observed when proxy server caching and tracing are enabled. RECOMMENDATION: None When caching is enabled on the proxy server a new HTTP message object may be allocated that is not initialized. A NullPointerException occurs when the object is then used with tracing. PROBLEM CONCLUSION: The uninitialized request object will not be used. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.4.
